The mission of the San Diego Church of Christ is to glorify God by living his word, abiding in his love and sharing his grace.
1) To glorify God
We will strive to honor, exalt, magnify, worship and praise the one who made us and saved us.
Romans 15:5-6 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 3:30 He must become greater; I must become less.
I Corinthians 10:31
2) By living his word
We will respect the bible as the inspired word of God and make every effort to live by it.
1 Thess. 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
2 Peter 1:20-21, 1 Tim.4:16, Luke 11:28, Heb.4:12-13
3) Abiding in his love
We will live securely, remembering that God loves us deeply and provided the means of our salvation (Jesus) - we did not deserve it or earn it.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Eph 2:4-9, Acts 2:38
4) Sharing his grace
Knowing that we have been loved and shown grace by God, we will in turn love and show grace to others; pointing them to the source of love and salvation.
Matt. 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Matt. 7:1-5 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Acts 26:17-18, Romans 10
